Samoa is also eligible to receive preferential market access through the Generalised Systems of Preferences (GSP) which are unilateral trade arrangements developed and offered by developed and developing countries to benefit developing and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) through preferential market access (Duty-Free-Quota-Free, DFQF).
As a developing country Samoa may be eligible to some GSP Schemes where Free Trade Agreements have not been concluded with partner countries, and subject to meeting the respective Rules of Origins. As GSP Schemes are unilateral preferences, interested stakeholders are encouraged to contact the Trade Division for assistance in verifying up to date information on eligibility to such Schemes.
Samoan exporters may be interested to find out more about the South Pacific Regional Trade and Economic Co-operation Agreement (SPARTECA) as well as the GSP Schemes of USA and Korea.
* Documentation to claim GSP preferences is the Certificate of Origin or “Form A” and can be uplifted from the Ministry for Revenue (Customs Services).
